Channel Open Days

Channel Open Days

Pact acknowledges the importance of access to commissioners for all indies, whilst we can't secure a commission for our members we can ensure that there are as many opportunities as possible for our members to access the right events and  conferences to network and meet the right people. Pact  is working with key commissioners to ensure its members are given as many opportunities for face-to-face meetings as possible. Channel Open days are one such way to ensure direct contact with commissioners is possible; below is a list of available open days which will benefit your business.

Channel 4
Following members’ requests, C4 now offers more genre specific, regional events throughout the year. The first London dates were in September and members found the revised format more informative and useful.

BBC
Again, the BBC has moved to the genre specific, regional approach for its open days.  Dates for for London, Bristol, Birmingham and Belfast will be announced shortly on the Book Now bulletins.

Five
We will be liaising with Five to set up an open day in 2008.  Although we had a “Meet Lisa Opie” event in May, unfortunately the annual open day in its usual format was postponed due to staff changes at Five.

ITV
Traditionally, ITV hasve organised their open days without consultation with Pact.   We are now in discussions with ITV with the aim of Pact being more involved in future events.

Satellite and Cable Companies
Pact has held a number of events with secondary TV channels in the past. We recognise the growing importance of this sector for future revenue streams and hope to increase the range and number of events.
