Having worked her way through production, Julie has been producing independent films for more than 20 years through her company, Dan Films.
Known for independent British productions and international co-productions, her taste is eclectic. Her projects span all genres and budget levels, from period biopic The Cat’s Meow, directed by Peter Bogdanovich and starring Kirsten Dunst, to Christopher Smith’s London set horror film Creep. Other credits include the final film of veteran filmmaker Nicolas Roeg, Puffball, adapted from the novel by Fay Weldon, and the family drama from the novel by Jacqueline Wilson Four Kids and It, starring Michael Caine, Paula Patton, Matthew Goode and Russell Brand. She produced the first series of 1926 drama Hotel Portofino starring Natasha McElhone and is currently in post production on the feature film Something in the Water with Studio Canal.
Julie works with emerging as well as experienced filmmakers. She regularly mentors new producers, writers and directors and guest lectures on various film courses, working closely in particular with the NFTS. She is Co-Chair of the Pact Film Producers Working Group and a Trustee of the East London arts charity Chisenhale Art Place.
Julie is a recipient of the prestigious Women in Film and Television Contribution to the Medium Award.
