Disability Inclusion

This online session will cover the fundamentals of disability inclusion and the TV Access Project's 5As - what they are and how they apply to the full production process.

The TV Access Project (TAP)* has produced guidelines for disability inclusion in the UK television production industry called the 5As. These act as a template for embedding access and inclusion into every stage of production.

In this free online session, disability trainer and consultant Heloise Beaton will take you through how to utilise the 5As and leave you with the confidence to apply these to your next commission.

The session will cover:

  • the fundamentals of disability inclusion, including the Equality Act, Social Model of Disability and language
  • The TV Access Project’s 5As – what are they?
  • How to apply the 5As to the full production process, from development to delivery (including case studies)

*TAP is an alliance of ten of the UK’s biggest broadcasters and streamers who have pledged to work together to create a substantiveand permanent structural shift to ensure access provision for Deaf, Disabled and Neurodivergent talent. Its vision is to see full inclusion by 2030.

This event is open to leaders of UK-based independent production companies and their employees and freelancers.

If you do not have an existing Pact website login, you will need to register for an account as part of the registration process. This is a quick and simple process and you do not have to work for a Pact member company in order to register.
