UK TV production for Overseas Broadcaster/SVOD

This registration type is for a TV production by a UK production company, for an overseas broadcaster or an overseas SVOD, that requires the Pact Equity cast templates.

For TV productions commissioned by an overseas broadcaster or SVOD platform, that are set up through an SPV, where the parent company of the SPV is a UK registered production company, then the parent company is asked to join Pact in its own right under the relevant membership and the SPV is asked to register with us under the Pact Production Levy system.

What You Get

The SPV gets:

  • access to Pact's business affairs support for the life of the production
  • access to Pact's suite of contracts and agreements for the life of the production
  • access to Pact's escrow management services should you need them

The parent company gets:

  • full membership rights as per the category of membership it applies for

Eligibility Criteria

The projects must be a TV production commissioned by an overseas broadcaster or overseas SVOD platform, set up through an SPV of a UK parent company.

The parent company of the SPV must have Pact membership.

What You Pay

The SPV will be required to pay the Pact Production Levy

To access our services, the SPV will need to pay the Pact Production Levy, which is based on the production budget. Current Production Levy rates can be found here.

Please note that the rates became applicable on Friday 1st April 2022. Prior to that, Pact charged a TV Levy for UK companies.

An invoice for the Production Levy will be issued by Pact's Accounts team upon receipt of your production registration form.

The parent company will be asked to pay a membership fee (if it does not do so already)

Membership fees will be charged at the relevant membership rate based on the parent company’s turnover as per the Income Statement of the most recent set of accounts filed at Companies House.

You can calculate your potential membership fee by entering your annual turnover as per the last set of statutory accounts filed at Companies House into the calculator found at the bottom of this page.

How Long Does it Take to Register?

Please note that a company that is actively trading in the UK, i.e. not an SPV, must be a Pact member before registering a TV production. If you, or your Parent company meet the requirements for membership, and are not a Pact member, you will need to arrange membership first, before proceeding with the TV registration.

If you are not sure whether this applies to you, please contact Anish Khanderia: [email protected]

Step One:  Arrange Parent Company Pact Membership (if applicable)

The Pact membership application can be completed online and it can take up to 48 hours from receipt for a completed application form to be processed. Payment must be received before the membership becomes active.

Information about how to join Pact can be found here.

Step Two:  Register Your Production

Important: Pact cannot issue production specific cast Forms of Engagement until registration is complete.

You will need to provide a number of important details about your production to complete the registration form. It is advised to allow at least half an hour to complete the form, though the precise time will depend on how readily available you have the required information.

At each stage of the registration form, you are able to save it in draft and return to it later if required.

Please note that you can only have one Production Registration form in progress at any one time. If you need to register more than one production, each form will need to be completed and submitted before moving on to the next one.

Step Three:  Access Pact’s Services

We will usually be in touch about your registration within 48 hours from receipt of the production form.

If you are in doubt about any aspects of the production and/or requirements, please get in contact with Grace Goodier: [email protected]
