This is an evolving resource which we have developed to help independent producers navigate the opportunities and challenges of using Generative AI technology in their businesses and on productions.

The AI principles and guidance found here were developed in conjunction with our AI Working Group and industry experts. The Working Group is comprised of members both large and small across a range of genres, and we are sharing our work to add to conversations within the sector about how best to use this technology as it develops.

Emily Oyama

Director of Policy

Emily oversees Pact’s overall policy position on broadcasting with regular engagement with the UK Government, Parliament and Ofcom.

She also oversees and plans Pact’s public affairs work to help build and maintain relationships across Whitehall and Westminster.

Emily was promoted to the role of Director of Policy in October 2023 having served for seven years as Pact’s Head of Policy since June 2016.

She has over 15 years’ experience of working within the UK and Scottish Government and worked in various roles within the UK Government including the Department for Culture Media and Sport, Cabinet Office, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and the Ministry of Justice. Prior to joining Pact, Emily spent two years as the Head of Partnerships in the DCMS and Cabinet Office and was responsible for growing and managing key relationships to implement the UK Digital Engagement Council.

She has an MA in Politics from Edinburgh University.

Susie Heron-Halliday

Senior Policy Executive

Susie is our policy lead for the nations and regions and works closely with the Director of Policy on the development and articulation of Pact’s overall policy position.

Susie also provides advice to members on Ofcom guidance and legislation, including the Audio-Visual Expenditure Credits (formerly the Audio-Visual Tax Credits).

Susie joined Pact in 2018 as a Policy Assistant. Prior to this, she worked as a Research Assistant at a think tank. She has a BA in Philosophy and Politics from the University of Liverpool and an MA in International Relations from Warwick University.
