The filming in England partnership connects different organisations across England, outside of London to create a film friendly environment. Their database of crew and facility listings is comprised of over 8,000 listings. From runners up to HOD they have a fantastic knowledge of where crew are based and who is available. They also offer and confidential crewing service. They can send out anonymous jobs post on the production’s behalf.

Film Office

Bristol Film Office is a division of Bristol City Council and can assist with filming in the Bristol area, locations, permissions as well as crew and facilities.

Bristol Film Office has a searchable database for crew which covers the Bristol and Bath area.

Bath
Film Office

Bath Filming Office is part of Bath and North East Somerset Council. It offers assistance with filming permission, locations, crew, and facilities.

Film Expo
South

Film Expo South is the film office covering Dorset, Hampshire, and the Isle of Wight. They aim to provide a one stop film and creative solution, showcasing the talent, film location and business services available to the industry in the south. They host a directory of crew, actors, locations, studios, screening rooms and film festivals. They are linked to the Dorset Film Office and Hampshire Film Office who can both be contacted directly for help with crewing.

Cornwall

Screen Cornwall the film office set up to provide filming advice, locations, and a crew directory for the area. Supported by Cornwall Council, and run by the sector, it aims to strengthen and grow the regions screen sector. They also run talent development courses – see training section for more details. 

Mor
Media

Mor Media are a charity which aim to promote education and engagement in filmmaking by increasing accessibility and inclusivity. They run the Cornwall Film Festival as well as workshops, events, talks, training opportunities. 

Devon & Cornwall
Film

Devon and Cornwall Film is a resource for filmmakers and lovers of film in Devon and Cornwall. They have developed a database of filmmakers in the South West.

They host the English Riviera Film Festival which celebrates South West creative talent. They have a mailing list for South West filmmakers and actors which showcases work from South West Filmmakers and shares cast and crew opportunities.

Gloucester

Film in Gloucester is run by Gloucester City Council and is the one-stop shop for filming in the city. They can help with filming permissions, locations, advice and generally helping productions run smoothly.

Somerset
Film

Somerset Film is an educational charity and film production company with a reputation for inclusion, partnership working and creative innovation. They have The Engine Room which is an accessible community media centre in Bridgwater. They host various talent development schemes to enable young people to co-create with professional filmmakers and artists, including a primary school network, and they also host work placements.

They are encouraging diverse filmmakers to get in touch to work with them.

The Bristol Culture Standard is a set of pledges around best employment and working practices in arts and culture. Organisations and employers in the cultural sector across the city were encouraged to sign up and deliver the standards by 2020 and beyond.

Watershed

Watershed is the leading creative centre for film culture, invention, and talent development in the South West. The hub consists of cinemas, film festivals, cross-arts venues, and other film exhibition organisations.

Boom Satsuma are an organisation which specialise in education and training for the Creative Industries. They work with industry partners to deliver training and education pathways and offer a range of courses linked to qualifications.

RTS West of England covers the South West of England. The RTS West of England Awards is a key event to celebrate the region’s talent and creativity. Committed to encouraging the new generation of TV practitioners.

Revolution

Come the Revolution are a collective of creatives from Bristol and Birmingham committed to exploring black life through cinema. They are raising the profile of Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic filmmaking.

Cables &
Cameras

Cables & Cameras are a leading organisation in Bristol’s independent film community. They host bi-monthly film nights and film screenings to create a hub for POC filmmakers and creatives in Bristol. They aim to create a space for POC creatives to collaborate and network.

Bristol Creative
Industries

Bristol Creative Industries is a network for Bristol’s creative professionals. They aim to connect the creative sector, support business growth and opportunities, host events and encourage skills development.

Member production companies can advertise roles for free on the South West jobs board or non-members can pay a one off fee. All roles advertised must be based in Bristol, Bath, or the South West.

They also have a newsletter which contains industry news, upcoming events, and jobs.
 

Bristol Editors’
Network

Bristol Editors’ Network is a volunteer-run resource for the Bristol editing fraternity. It is a community group where editors can find out about freelance jobs, share expertise, and experiences. Production companies can post jobs for both editors and assistants for free on the site.

Wildscreen
Network

The Wildscreen Network serves as a hub of the international wildlife film industry. It helps existing and emerging talent to connect with content producers as well as producers connect to service providers. Wildscreen Networks offers industry news, hosts monthly events and networking opportunities, and provides a platform for employers posting jobs and freelancers posting their CVs and availability.

Talent

Gritty Talent is a company who discover, nurture, and connect talented people from under-represented groups in the media industry. They can deliver off screen and on screen talent searches, consultancy and have an agency to represent talent.

Rising Arts
Agency

Led by young creative thinkers, Rising Arts advocates for sector and cultural change through campaigns, research projects, and industry consultation. They offer a showcase for young creatives, and if you are a production company and want to get more young people involved in your work or to commission emerging talent, they want to hear from you.

Babbasa

Babbassa aims to inspire and support young people in Bristol to pursue their ambitions through skills training, professional mentoring, events, and recruitment support services. They want to address inequalities and produce a fairer city. Babbassa connects local businesses, including indies, with a diverse and ambitious pool of young talent, who they may otherwise struggle to reach. They also offer inclusion training and strategic support to build attractive and fair work environments.

Creative Youth
Network

The Creative Youth Network showcase the work and skills of the brightest young creative talent, aiming to make the creative industries as representative as the society in which we live. They work with 11-18 year olds and focuses on those from different ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.

Radio

Ujima is a community radio station and Community Interest Company who celebrate African and Caribbean cultures. They offer volunteering opportunities which helps to equip young people working at Ujima with radio production skills and offers a career pathway into radio, media, and the arts.

ACH is a social enterprise which aims to drive change and integration for refugees and migrant communities in Bristol, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and Coventry.

Training Scheme

This scheme offers paid training placement opportunities to those currently underrepresented in the TV industry, particularly disabled people, people from a Black, Asian and minority ethnic background and people from lower socio-economic groups who are from or currently living/working in and around Bristol.

Cornish Voices

BBC Writers Room North aims to discover, develop, and champion new and experienced writing talent by offering support, script reading, bursaries, networking. New writing voices awarded annually.

BBC: Production Apprenticeship
Fast Track England

Based at BBC locations across the north of England, the BBC Apprenticeship is an 18-month production apprenticeship, offering work experience on the job and a Certificate in Creative Content and Production.

   -Making My Mark which is a short film competition about personal identity and heritage. 
- Mass Media is a free group for young people aged 11 -17 to discover filmmaking and gain experience through live local projects and national opportunities. 
-Alumni – there is a page on the website with details of their alumni who are now working in the industry. Good place to spot diverse local talent.

Stepping
Up

Stepping Up is a ground breaking, award-winning diversity leadership programme which aims to ensure fair representation in positions of leadership. It is designed for people from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities, women and disabled people who live and work in Bristol and the wider region. Companies can nominate individuals to take part or individuals can apply directly. Those taking part go through six modules and are assessed and validated through practical and theoretical practice. Participants are offered a mentor and gain a recognised certificate.

Screenology is an organisation who make films and offer a Creative Filmmaking BA (Hons) which is based in practical experience as an alternative to traditional university.  Screenology also support diversity through programmes such as mentoring.
